शिवसेना पक्षाला मोठे खिंडार पाडून एकनाथ शिंदे यांना राज्याचे मुख्यमंत्री केल्यानंतर देखील मुंबईत शिवसेनेचा पराभव करणे शक्य नाही, याची जाणीव झालेल्या भारतीय जनता पक्षाने आजपर्यंत मुंबई महापालिकेची निवडणूक घेण्याचे धाडस केलेले नाही. आता तर त्यांनी मुंबई विद्यापीठावरील युवा सेनेचे वर्चस्व मोडीत काढणे अशक्य असल्याचे लक्षात येताच सिनेट पदासाठी सुरू झालेली निवडणूक प्रक्रिया गुरुवारी रात्री अचानक एक पत्र काढून रद्द करत अनिश्चित काळासाठी पुढे ढकलली. याचा निषेध करताना महाराष्ट्र नवनिर्माण सेनेचे अमित ठाकरे, युवा सेनेचे आदित्य थके आणि राष्ट्रवादी युवक काँग्रेसचे अमोल मातेले यांनी सरकारवर जोरदार टीका केली आहे.
मुंबई विद्यापीठाच्या सिनेटच्या दहा पदांसाठी 2017 मध्ये झालेल्या निवडणुकीत सर्वच्या सर्व जागा युवा सेनेने पटकावल्या होत्या. भाजप प्रणित अखिल भारतीय विद्यार्थी परिषदेचा वरचष्मा संपवण्यात शिवसेना नेते आदित्य ठाकरे यांना यश आले होते. आता देखील तोच कित्ता गिरवला जाईल, अशी भीती भारतीय जनता पक्षाला होती. त्यामुळेच भाजपने या निवडणुकीपासून पळ काढला असावा, अशी प्रतिक्रिया युवासेना आणि मनसेकडून व्यक्त केली जात आहे.
महाराष्ट्र नवनिर्माण विद्यार्थी सेनेच्या एका पदाधिकाऱ्याने दिलेल्या माहितीनुसार, यावेळी त्यांनी सुमारे 30 हजार पदवीधरांची नोंदणी करून घेतली होती. त्यामुळे मनसेनेते आणि राज ठाकरे यांचे सुपुत्र अमित ठाकरे यांच्या नेतृत्वाखाली सिनेटच्या या निवडणुकीत मनवि सेनेला चांगला विजय मिळाला असता. निवडणूक प्रक्रिया अचानक रद्द करून ती पुढे ढकलण्यात आल्यामुळे मनवि सेना संतप्त झाली आहे. अमित ठाकरे हे कुलपती आणि राज्याचे कुलगुरू रमेश बैस यांची शनिवारी भेट घेऊन सिनेटच्या निवडणुका घेण्यात याव्यात, अशी मागणी करणार आहेत.
आदित्य ठाकरे म्हणाले की, सुमारे सव्वा लाख पदवीधर विद्यार्थी सिनेटच्या या निवडणुकीत मतदान करतात. युवा सेनेने बोगस मतदार शोधून मतदार यादी 95 हजारावर आणली होती. निवडणूक प्रक्रिया सुरू झाली होती, 10 सप्टेंबरला मतदान होते, इच्छुकांनी अर्ज भरले होते. निवडणूक प्रक्रिया सुरू झाली असताना ती मध्येच थांबवणे, हे आजपर्यंत कधी झाले नाही. मग आताच हा निर्णय का घेण्यात आला? कोणाचा दबाव होता? असे प्रश्न आदित्य ठाकरे यांनी उपस्थित केले आहेत.
मुंबई विद्यापीठाचे कार्यक्षेत्र अगदी पालघरपासून ते रत्नागिरी, सिंधुदुर्ग पर्यंत पसरले आहे. ज्याच्याकडे पदवी प्रमाणपत्र असते, अशा मतदारांची नोंद करून घेतली जाते. ही सर्व प्रक्रिया राजकीय पक्षच राबवतात, एकेका मतदाराला शोधणे, त्याच्या घरी जाणे, त्याचा पत्ता मिळवणे, हे अत्यंत कठीण काम असते. मुंबई विद्यापीठ यासाठी कुठलेही सहकार्य करत नाही, अशी प्रतिक्रिया मनसेच्या एका नेत्याने दिली. या नेत्याने सांगितले की, दरवर्षी नवीन मतदारांची नोंदणी करून घेतानाच जे जुने मतदार असतात, त्यांच्याकडून देखील दर निवडणुकीला बी फॉर्म भरून घ्यावा लागतो. अशाप्रकारे मनवि सेनेने यावेळी जवळपास 30,000 मतदारांची नोंदणी करून घेतली होती. त्यामुळे मनवि सेनेला या निवडणुकीकडून फार अपेक्षा होत्या.
आदित्य ठाकरे म्हणाले की, सिनेट तुमचे सरकार पाडणार नाहीये, तर हे सरकार आम्ही पडणार आहोत, सगळीकडे तुमचा पराभव झाला आहे आणि याच भीतीने तुम्ही ज्याप्रमाणे मुंबई महापालिकेची निवडणूक लांबवली, त्याप्रमाणे सिनेटची देखील लांबवली, असा आरोप आदित्य ठाकरे यांनी केला.
दरम्यान, बोगस मतदारांची चौकशी करावी अशी मागणी मुंबई भाजपचे अध्यक्ष आशीष शेलार यांनी केली आहे
