मुंबई — मिरा-भाईंदर महानगरपालिका क्षेत्रातील घोडबंदर (सर्वे क्र. २३३) येथे डॉ. बाबासाहेब आंबेडकर यांचे स्मारक उभारण्याची प्रक्रिया सुरू असून, त्यासाठी सामाजिक न्याय विभागाने १ कोटी ४६ लाख रुपयांचा निधी मंजूर केला आहे, अशी माहिती परिवहन मंत्री प्रताप सरनाईक यांनी दिली.
या प्रकल्पाअंतर्गत डॉ. आंबेडकर यांच्या १६ फुटी पूर्णाकृती पुतळ्याची उभारणी केली जाणार आहे. यासाठी सुमारे २०० चौ.मी. जागा निश्चित करण्यात येत असून ती महापालिकेला हस्तांतरित करण्याची प्रक्रिया सुरू आहे.
या संदर्भात मंत्रालयात सामाजिक न्याय मंत्री संजय शिरसाट यांच्या अध्यक्षतेखाली बैठक झाली. बैठकीला विभागाचे सचिव हर्षदीप कांबळे, मिरा-भाईंदर महापालिका आयुक्त राधा बिनोद शर्मा आणि अन्य अधिकारी उपस्थित होते.
संबंधित जागा यापूर्वीच जिल्हाधिकाऱ्यांमार्फत सामाजिक न्याय विभागाकडे हस्तांतरित करण्यात आली आहे. या ठिकाणी स्मारकासोबत बहुउद्देशीय इमारत उभारण्याचा प्रस्ताव असून, प्रकल्पासाठी आधी सुमारे १४ कोटी रुपयांचा निधी मंजूर करण्यात आला होता. त्यानंतर अतिरिक्त २० कोटी रुपयांची तरतूदही करण्यात आली आहे.
शासनाच्या मार्गदर्शक सूचनांनुसार आवश्यक परवानग्या आणि कागदपत्रांची पूर्तता करण्यासाठी प्रस्ताव संबंधित समितीकडे सादर करण्यात आला असून, पुढील सहा महिन्यांत पुतळा उभारणी पूर्ण करण्याचा प्रयत्न असल्याचे सरनाईक यांनी सांगितले.
